As the biggest state-owned bookstore chain in China, Xinhua has a strong physical presence across the country. In the digital age, the reader has plenty of reading platforms and mediums to choose from and as a consequence, the brick-and-mortar bookstores need to understand the ever-changing user demand to increase the user retention rate and market share while taking advantage of its strong brand identity.
